This artwork is a cheeky reference to all the Snuneymuxw stories about people transformed into stone on Gabriola Island. Our ancestors turned into stone are still living on the island, each stone itself is a being. There are people who live inside the stone. In the history of colonization some of these stone people have been vandalized and destroyed. The humour of this artwork is intentional and lighthearted, but it is also an access point to share about these histories and honour our stories.
